B.Tech. in Biotechnology (4 Years)

Program Overview

Centre for Biotechnology is set up to meet the long-felt need of imparting technical education in global perspective. The aim of Centre for Biotechnology is to provide the much needed trained manpower for the emerging industry based on Biotechnology and to provide impetus for the rapid growth, and advances in this ever changing field of technology. Biotechnology has already made a major impact in pharmaceutical industry where it has already taken a 20% share of the existing business in less than 15 years. It has similarly impacted agriculture, medicine, chemistry and environmental management. Biotechnology is one of the key technologies of the 21st century. It is essentially a technology which employs the biological organisms for the industrial production of some useful compounds with the prime objective of benefitting the mankind.

The mission of the Centre for Biotechnology is to enhance the quality of life by solving the unsolvable problems of life science with the applications of Biotechnology.

Eligibility Criteria

  • 10+2 with minimum 5 subjects passed with minimum 50% marks
  • Physics and Maths as compulsory subjects for all B.Tech. programs except Biotechnology/Biomedical/Agriculture Informatics. For B.Tech. Biotechnology/Biomedical, Physics and Biology/Biotechnology as compulsory subjects. For B.Tech. Agriculture Informatics Physics and Biology/Agriculture as compulsory subjects.

Admission Procedure

  • Students with valid scores in JEE-Main / Any State Engineering Entrance Examination are eligible for Direct Admission
  • Students securing 70% in class XII (CBSE/ ICSE Boards) or 65% (in State Boards) 2018-19 examinations are also eligible for Direct Admission. 5% additional weightage is given to Girl candidates.

ADMISSION (Second Year- Lateral Entry )

Candidates who have a 3 years Diploma in Engineering granted by the Board of Technical Examination of a State Government, or passed B.Sc. Degree from a recognized University with atleast 60% marks and passed Xll standard with Mathematics as a subject may be admitted directly to 2nd year of B.Tech. Program.

Fee Structure

  • Tuition Fees: 60,000/- (p.a.)
  • University Charges: 40,000/- (p.a.)
  • Refundable Security: 10,000/-
